Beaujolais

Beaujolais, nestled between Burgundy to the north and the Rhône Valley to the south, is a vibrant and renowned wine region in eastern France.

The region is almost entirely planted with the Gamay grape, which produces mostly red wines.

Around 70 million liters of Beaujolais are produced annually, a figure that is two-and-a-half times the total wine production of the rest of Burgundy.

Over half of this is sold as Beaujolais Nouveau, but there is a hidden treasure trove of exceptional wines to be found among the 10 named village crus, which occupy a 15-mile stretch of granite hills to the north.
