'The 2014 Côte-Rôtie “Côte Brune” from Julien Barge is going to be a great wine with enough time in the cellar. The nose jumps from the glass in a complex mélange of cassis, black olives, game, a complex base of stony soil, dark chocolate, nutskin, woodsmoke and pepper. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very suave and almost plush on the attack, with a rock solid core, ripe, chewy tannins and superb focus and grip on the very long, nascently complex and perfectly balanced finish. Fine, fine juice.'
