Tasting Note
'Tasted out of barrel at the Domaine. The Gevrey “En Champs” is a selection of the best plots, subsequently raised in 70% in new oak (the remainder is blended into the Gevrey Vieille Vignes). This is has well-defined, fresh bouquet that draws you in. There is an underlying exoticism to this Gevrey with hints of apricot flower and orange-blossom, becoming more feminine and floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded, supple tannins, good matiere here, cohesive and quite bold with good extraction on the finish. Black cherries, a touch of briary and cassis, composed and refined but harbouring ambitions it may seek in bottle. I find this an enigmatic Gevrey with great ageing potential.'
