Marchesi di Gresy Barbaresco Martinenga Camp Gros 1990
Tasting Note
'The 1990 Camp Gros Martinenga is a profound wine, offering staggering perfume of ripe black-cherries, spring flowers, smoky oak, and a cigar box/fruitcake-like component. Dense, concentrated, and rich, the tell-tale opulence and jamminess of the vintage are well-represented.
This wine possesses admirable underlying structure, ripe tannin, and a heady yet gorgeously soft and silky-textured finish. Although approachable, it promises to be one of di Gresy's longest-lived Barbarescos, lasting easily through the first decade of the next century.
The 1990 di Gresy Barbarescos possess a deeper richness and higher alcohol than the 1989s. They appear to have been made from even riper, more concentrated fruit than the superb 1989s.'
