Antoine Jobard - 2022 Vintage Release
13/02/2025
We are very excited to be importing Domaine Antoine Jobard to the UK.
I have tasted each year at the Domaine for the last twelve years, and have seen the wines go from strength to strength - they have added more structure, precision and depth - and are now deservedly in the upper echelons of white Burgundy. I enjoy opening them blind to seasoned tasters and the 1er Crus - especially the Porusots & Genevrieres - have been guessed as either Coche Dury, d'Auvenay or Arnaud Ente. They are that good. The wines always have a beautiful and glistening texture and aromatically are classic Meursault, always brimming with energy. They are perfect accompaniments to food.
The Bourgogne Blanc is my house wine and from experience, if you leave it a couple years it does develop into a village quality like Meursault.
The Meursault village is the main wine of the Domaine now, and contains the En La Barre, Tillets, Chaumes de Perrieres and several other top village sites. The En La Barre & Tillets is no longer bottled separately, since the 2020 vintage, and the village wine is considerably more complete and complex and is a real winner. This was the original Meursault village blend of Francois Jobard, Antoine's father, who was convinced by his US importer in the early '90's to bottle them separately and now Antoine has gone back to the original bottling which helped create the reputation of the Domaine. Even though I was sad not to see the En La Barre & Tillets bottlings, I was totally convinced of the single Meursault wine as it really is a sum of its parts and is a remarkable village wine.
The 2022 vintage suits the Domaines style perfectly, and will offer early drinking pleasure as well as mid-long term ageing.
There are also the new reds in the range, which veer to a more modern style and are absolutely delicious in their youth. They come highly recommended.
2022 Red Burgundy

Antoine Jobard Pommard 2022
£480 per case of 12 bt in Original Case In Bond
90/100 Allen Meadows:'A highly perfumed and elegant nose is comprised by notes of spicy red currant, plum and more discreet earth influence. The succulent but punchy medium weight flavors exude a refreshing bead of salinity on the balanced, complex, long and only slightly austere finale. This is a terrific Pommard villages and recommended.'

Antoine Jobard Beaune 1er Cru Epenottes 2022
£500 per case of 12 bt in Original Case In Bond
90-92/100 Jasper Morris:'Mid crimson in colour. The fruit is a little more together on the nose, with some generosity of red berry fruit. Extra density through the middle with enough structure inside, though this is normally quite soft as a vineyard. In the end the density carries it through very well.'

Antoine Jobard Pommard 1er Cru les Epenots 2022
£900 per case of 12 bt in Original Case In Bond
91-93/100 Jasper Morris:'Mid crimson. An interesting complex and more savoury nose. A little more red fruit perfume. 50 years old vines which were in not too bad a state. A bit more, in fact a lot more, punch behind, with a weight of dark fruit and an altogether more complete finish. The fruit keeps returning.'
2022 White Burgundy

Antoine Jobard Bourgogne Blanc 2022
£300 per case of 12 bt in Original Case In Bond
No tasting notes.

Antoine Jobard Meursault 2022
£720 per case of 12 bt in Original Case In Bond
Antoine Jobard Meursault 2022 magnums
£810 per case of 6 mags in Original Case In Bond
90-92/100 Neal Martin:'The 2022 Meursault Village, a blend of Jobard's lieux-dits, which has been the case for three vintages now, has a classic nose of orchard fruit, walnut and a touch of crushed stone. The palate is very well-balanced with a lime and citrus peel opening, crisp acidity and a little fatness towards the finish. Very fine. '

Antoine Jobard St Aubin 1er Cru Sur Le Sentier Du Clou 2022
£720 per case of 12 bt in Original Case In Bond
89-91/100 Allen Meadows:'Notes of wet stone, apple, carnation and spice lead to round and supple but slightly denser medium weight flavors that seem almost easy-going on the mid-palate before instantly tightening up on the balanced if youthfully austere finale that could also benefit from developing more depth. '

Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2022
£1,320 per case of 12 bt in Original Case In Bond
Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Blagny 2022 magnums
£250 per mag In Bond
92-94/100 Neal Martin:'The 2022 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru had a lot of reduction when I tasted it from barrel, though its intensity was clear. The palate is very promising: wonderful tension here, steely and spicier than the Meursault Village, with touches of fennel and white pepper on the finish. Quite feisty and surely one for long-term aging.'

Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2022
£135 per bt In Bond
92-95/100 Jasper Morris:'Clear pale colour, the bouquet offering full white fruit with a clear-cut edge which follows through in the mouth. Very impressive intensity, this is excellent. Long fleshy finish behind.'

Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots 2022
£150 per bt In Bond
Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots 2022 magnums
£345 per mag In Bond
91-94/100 Allen Meadows:'Smoky, and mildly toasty, aromas combines notes of green fruit, lemon zest and pretty floral wisps. As is usually the case, there is better size, weight and power to the dense broad-shouldered flavors that are blessed with a firm acid spine supporting the clean, bone-dry and impressively persistent finale. This robust effort is textbook Poruzots and very much built-to-age.'

Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Genevrieres 2022
£250 per bt In Bond
Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Genevrieres 2022 magnums
£575 per mag In Bond
94-96/100 Neal Martin:'The 2022 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has a lively bouquet, walnut and int infusing the citrus fruit, with hints of quince in the background. This has got it going on (aromatically). The palate is just fabulous, very vivacious, with wonderful acidity and tension throughout and one of the most intense nishes of any Meursault I tasted from barrel in this vintage. Enormous length. Wow'
