Languedoc-Roussillon
The Languedoc is France's most quietly radical wine region, a vast arc of Mediterranean hillside where a generation of growers has turned away from volume production entirely. What interests us here is not the region's scale, but its singular characters: producers working with old-vine Carignan, Grenache and Mourvèdre in the schist and limestone garrigue to make wines of real depth and individuality. The results can be extraordinary, and often at prices that would be impossible in Burgundy or the Rhône.
Our selection is deliberately narrow, focused on producers whose commitment to terroir sets them apart from the appellation mainstream.
