Armand Rousseau Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St Jacques 2005 (OCC/12)
Tasting Note
'The 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru delivers everything you really want from this Grand Cru in all but name. The nose has undoubtedly opened up a little since I tasted a ferociously backward bottle in Hong Kong, yet there is some way to go. Tightly-coiled red fruit, dark cherry, pressed rose petal and clove. The palate is the old iron fist in a velvet glove. It is beautifully defined by its filigree tannins, effortless and harmonious, with a gentle crescendo towards a finish that seems to envelop the senses. You will be smitten by its charms. Tasted at the Southwold Burgundy dinner at Hatched restaurant.'
