Domaine Les Astrelles Gevrey Chambertin En Vosne 2022
Tasting Note
'Domaine les Astrelles bottling of Gevrey “En Vosne” (a curious name, no?) is made from their smallest parcel of vines in Gevrey, as they farm thirteen ares of sixty old vines here. The wine is aged without seeing any new oak. This lieu à dit is also on the northern boundary of Gevrey, alongside of the border with Brochon. The 2022 version offers up a beautifully refined bouquet of red and black cherries, red plums, raw cocoa, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, a touch of mustard seed, gentle floral tones and just a whisper of oak from the older casks. On the palate the wine is bright, young and full-bodied, with a lovely core of fruit, fine soil inflection, fine-grained tannins and lovely focus and balance on the long, young and elegant finish. This is a lovely, seamless wine in the making, but it is still quite primary and needs bottle age to allow its complexity to emerge. It will be a lovely bottle in due course.'
