Ponsot Clos de la Roche 1998 Half
Tasting Note
'Tasted at Goedhuis’s Burgundy tasting at the Saatchi Gallery. Juxtaposed against the ’97, the ’98 Clos de la Roche appears to have more vigour on the nose with wild strawberry, a touch of iron rust, dried blood and those captivating tertiary aromas that seem to become its leitmotif with age. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, great structure here…especially for a 1998. Tart red fruits on the finish, “spiky” tart red fruits with a dash of pepper on the masculine finish. This is a very fine Clos-de-la-Roche that would actually benefit from a couple more years in bottle.'
