Ramonet Chevalier Montrachet 2012
Tasting Note
'In contrast to the Bâtard the wood treatment here is all but invisible and easily allows the cool, pure and restrained aromas of beautifully complex floral, citrus, jasmine tea, tangerine peel and discreet anise nuances to shine. The intense but silky and surprisingly accessible and round flavors possess the same strikingly good complexity and the mouth feel is beguilingly seductive, all wrapped in a delineated, balanced and wonderfully long finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This is one very classy wine but I am genuinely astonished at how forward it is; indeed this is almost easy-going, which is obviously well outside of what is typical for Chevalier. This may very well tighten up with a few years of bottle age but my sense is that 2012 is a very good rather than genuinely great vintage for the Ramonet Chevalier.'
