Domaine Leroy

12 x Domaine Leroy Chambolle Musigny 2004

£72,000 per case of 12 bt in OWC In Bond (US Label)

94/100 Allen Meadows:
'This is equally stylish and classy though completely different with a stunningly complex and ultra floral nose combining spice, earth and dark pinot fruit aromas that continue onto the detailed, powerful and fantastically long flavors that stain the palate with almost painful intensity and sap. This may very well equal the Vosne one day as the qualitative difference between the two is subtle indeed.'

12 x Domaine Leroy Vosne Romanee Les Genaivrieres 2006

£30,000 per case of 12 bt in OWC In Bond (Ex-Domaine 2022)

91/100 Allen Meadows:
'Here the nose is both expressive and wonderfully seductive with its spicy elegance and striking purity to the red, blue and black pinot fruit that is classic Vosne in character. The middle weight flavors possess a beguiling velvety texture yet manage to remain precise and focused on the balanced, deep and lingering finish. This and the Fremières have always been my two favorite Leroy wines at the villages level and the '06 version is an absolute knockout for what it is.'

6 x Domaine Leroy Richebourg 2006

£36,000 per case of 6 bt in OWC In Bond (Ex-Domaine 2022)

96/100 Allen Meadows:
'As is usually the case, here the nose is much less expressive, indeed even brooding at present though it is more than capable, offering up an impressive array of spice elements as well on the mostly black pinot fruit nose complemented by earthier sub-notes that continue onto the powerful, ripe and concentrated tautly muscled and big-bodied flavors that are supported by very firm but buried tannins as the impressive extract renders them all but invisible for the moment. However, as the baby fat melts away they will become more prominent and this will be a long distance runner, easily capable of 30 years or more of cellar potential.'

3 x Domaine Leroy Romanee St Vivant 2008

£22,500 per case of 3 bt in OWC In Bond (Ex-Domaine 2024, ETA - December)

97/100 Allen Meadows:
'A gorgeously spicy and kaleidoscopically complex nose features a huge breadth of aromas of very ripe and largely black fruits. The focused and tautly muscular flavors possess a mouth feel of lace and silk, all wrapped in a firmer than usual finish that is harmonious to the point of being quite Zen-like. In sum, this is a spectacular effort that will easily live for 50 years if desired under quality cellar conditions.'

6 x Domaine Leroy Clos de la Roche 2011

£30,000 per case of 6 bt in OWC In Bond (Ex-Domaine 2022)

96/100 Allen Meadows:
'Mild reduction disguises the more subtle elements of the nose but there is plenty of earth character present on what appears to be ripe red berry aromas that lie beneath the funk. There is a highly seductive texture to the large-scaled, sleekly muscular, intense and massive flavors that again, despite all the sheer size and weight, manage to remain focused and betray absolutely no sense of heaviness. The breathtakingly long finish is quite saline with an almost pungent minerality that adds lift. Mostly wines would have been crushed coming after the Musigny but this more than held its own. This is flat out tremendous and entirely textbook.'

3 x Domaine Leroy Pommard Vignots 2012

£12,000 per case of 3 bt in OWC In Bond (Ex-Domaine 2024, ETA - December)

95/100 Antonio Galloni:
'It's hard to imagine that a tasting in this cellar starts with the stunning 2012 Pommard Les Vignots, a wine that many growers would be thrilled to have as their top cuvée. Dark, powerful and explosive in the glass, the Vignots is a compelling example of just how rich the wines are in the Côte de Beaune in 2012. This is a decidedly dark, brooding Vignots built on density and volume, with enough tannin to age well for many years.'

6 x Domaine Leroy Bourgogne Aligote 2018

£2,250 per case of 6 bt in Original Case In Bond (Ex-Domaine 2024, ETA - December)
  No tasting notes.

DRC

2 x DRC Romanee St Vivant 1976

£2,500 per bt In Bond

93/100 Allen Meadows:
'A fully mature, strikingly complex and exuberantly spicy nose of superb depth and breadth leads to rich, full, sweet, ripe but not roasted middle weight flavors that deliver fine length and a velvety finish. This is much better than one would reasonably expect from the vintage and while there is a touch of finishing tannins still in evidence, they are certainly within the realm of acceptability. However, it is the superb spice character that defines this wine and it's a classic Romanée St. Vivant in style. Note that I would be looking for reasons to drink up as I suspect that it will begin a slow decline soon. Tasted thrice with consistent notes.'

6 x DRC Richebourg 2005

£24,000 per case of 6 bt in OWC In Bond

98/100 Neal Martin:
'A deep ruby colour with crimson rim. The nose wafts seductively from the glass and caresses the senses: cherries and wild strawberries with orange and apricot sorbet developing after 20 minutes in the glass. Very harmonious and sensuous, hints of orange-blossom after 30 minutes. The palate is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, utterly harmonious and incredibly refined. Vibrant acidity, immense precision and tension with an almost weightless, yet intense finish of ebullient red fruits: cherry, redcurrant and boysenberry with a hint of black tea. Very long and lingering at the finish. A wine you wish will never end. Probably the best Richebourg from Romanee-Conti that I have encountered.'

6 x DRC Romanee St Vivant 2005

£9,900 per case of 3 bt in OWC In Bond

97/100 Allen Meadows:
'An incredibly perfumed and supremely elegant if notably ripe nose features notes of various black fruit scents that are replete with soy, hoisin, clove and anise nuances. There is outstanding power and richness to the refined, detailed and still quite firmly structured flavors that culminate in a precise, pure and driving finish that goes on and on. This is a really impressive effort that offers terrific potential but fans of this wine should note that it is arguably more masculine than it usually is yet at the same time utterly seamless. In sum this is arguably the finest RSV that the Domaine has ever produced though one that is indisputably going to require extended aging. Tasted twice in 2019 and again in 2024 with similar notes.'

1 x DRC Romanee Conti 2016

£14,500 per bt In Bond

100/100 William Kelley:
'The 2016 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is a worthy successor to the profound 2015, wafting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, violets, peony, dark chocolate, cinnamon and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and satiny, with an ineffable sense of completeness, searing concentration without weight, a vibrant, indeed animating line of acidity, and a long, expansive finish that concludes with a judicious touch of mouthwatering bitterness. Wines like this are the foundation of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's reputation.'

12 x DRC Assortment 2019

£33,000 per case of 12 bt in OWC In Bond

1 x Corton Charlemagne – 97/100 JM
3 x Vosne Romanée Duvault Blochet – 92/100 AG
2 x Corton – 95/100 WK
2 x Echezeaux – 96/100 JM
2 x Grands Echezeaux – 97/100 JM
2 x Romanee St Vivant – 98/100 NM

1 x DRC Romanee Conti 2021

£15,000 per bt In Bond

98/100 William Kelley:
'The 2021 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is the most integrated and complex—that's to say, hard to describe—wine in the range. Wafting from the glass with scents of sweet red berries, exotic spices, espresso roast, rose petals and violets, with only subtle hints of the coniferous bass-notes that mark out many of the other cuvées this year, it's full-bodied, pure and seamless, with an exquisitely suave, harmonious palate that effortless integrates vibrant acids, melting tannins and intense retronasal perfume. Concluding with a mouthwateringly saline finish, this is a wine that will delight, even enchant, Burgundy purists.'
